The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements are regularly being updated, which can be confusing, time-consuming and unsatisfying

CPD Requirements
Category 1: Educational Activities
A minimum of 12.5 hours of activities like conferences, reading journal articles or completing online learning modules.
Category 2 & 3: Reviewing Performance and measuring Outcomes
A minimum of 25 hours of activities across Category 2 – Reviewing Performance and Category 3 – Measuring Outcomes.
Category 2 involves feedback from others on clinical and professional practice, such as peer review of records, patient feedback or multi-source feedback.
Category 3 involves measurement of health outcomes and might include an audit of standards or guidelines, practice against relevant recommendations, or incident reporting/monitoring.
You must complete a minimum of 5 hours of activities in each of these categories and can decide the best mix to suit your practice.
Free Choice Activities
The remaining 12.5 hours can be completed across any of the categories.
A minimum of 2 activities that involve Cultural Safety and Addressing Health Inequities and 2 activities incorporating Ethics and Professional Behaviour are required annually that can be completed in either categories 1, 2 or 3.
Case Study
Continuing professional development activities between 1 January to 31 December with records due 31 March the following year.
January – February
Planning
Create Professional Development Plan (PDP) and Submit in CPD Home .
Approx. 6 months
Part One
Complete 25 hours of Category 1 activities, including Cultural Safety and Health Inequities and Ethics and Professional Behaviour.
Plan relevant Category 3 Audits.
Approx. 6 months
Part Two
Complete minimum 5 hours of Category 3 Audits.
Complete remainder of required hours in Category 2 activities.
March (following year)
Submission
Submit records of CPD activities from previous year.
